As much as I love fishing, I simply don’t have the time to go on trips as often as I would like. To satiate my hunger, I used to watch fishing shows on cable TV, but since we now live in the internet era, I refuse to pay for cable, and instead watch fishing shows and videos online. Not only do I find fishing shows entertaining, but they’re quite educational as well. And the best thing about watching stuff online, is the fact that there’s something for fishermen of all age and expertise.
I’m the type of person that likes to watch something before I attempt it. That way, I’m always well-prepared, and have a better experience. Moreover, I’m really competitive and have a winner’s mentality, so while some people go fishing to relax and enjoy themselves, I go to catch a big game, and if I don’t, I consider the trip a failure.
But regardless what your goals are, you can learn a lot from fishing videos online. Whether that’s a new fishing technique, the basics, or fishing products. Moreover, watching fishing videos online can be fun, there are countless of blooper videos, and you can even learn from them on what not to do while fishing. The best way to learn is through other people’s mistakes.
I follow a lot of shows online, and some of the most popular ones I follow are the Ultimate Fishing Show, Extreme Fishing and the World Fishing Network. The Ultimate Fishing show is my personal favourite, even though it’s a programme of New Zealand. Matt Watson is easily one of my favourite personalities. His shows are frequently aired even on shows like Discovery and Animal Planet, and he’s gotten quite a few people into fishing, because he makes it all look very entertaining.
Extreme Fishing, on the other hand, is focused on the best fishing destinations in the world. Robson Green’s main goal is to find the best fishing destinations and catch the biggest fish. Nowadays, there’s a popular spin off named Robson’s Extreme Fishing Challenge which you can find on YouTube.
And lastly, The World Fishing Network, also known as WFN is a specialty channel which broadcasts fishing-related programmes. You can find anything you want to know about fishing on it, and marine life in general. There are lots of exclusive videos of the brutal and bold ways of marine life. With the internet, the options are limitless, and you can easily discover some not-so-well-known shows and video producers who can take your fishing to the next level.
